The Norwegian contribution to ACTRIS, ACTRIS-Norway, kicked off the 1.-2. September 2022 at Grefsenkollen in Oslo with researchers from NILU- Norwegian Institute for Air Research, Norwegian Meteorological Institute, and CICERO - Center for International Climate Research. The project is founded for the next 5 years with 42.7 million NOK (~ €4.3 million) by the Research Council of Norway through the National Financing Initiative for Research Infrastructure and is coordinated by NILU.

The kick-off was led by Cathrine Lund Myhre (NILU), leading ACTRIS Data Center and ACTRIS-Norway, and consisted of introductions, presentations, discussions, project planning, and team-building initiatives. Eija Juurola from the Head Office sent greetings to the ACTRIS-Norway community per video and an introduction to ACTRIS towards operational RI for the attendees. The main objective of ACTRIS-Norway is to improve the ACTRIS Data Centre, which handles all ACTRIS data. The project will upgrade the EBAS database, with a focus on better NRT dataflow and improved QA/QC routines. Furthermore, the project group shall develop new functionalities, including a renewal of the existing ACTRIS data portal and the development of new data products for research and data management. The goal is to improve the user experience, making it easier to access and utilize ACTRIS data.
