CCRES SERVICES TO NF

The key services and operation support provided by the Centre for Cloud Remote Sensing are:

1. Strengthen the links between NF and build a consolidated community across Europe at the forefront of scientific and technical knowledge

2. Provide training to the NF technicians, to facilitated the fulfilment of the specific technical requirements

3. Develop, update and implement at the NF the specific quality assurance criteria, guidelines and procedures for calibrating and operating the instruments and processing the observation data

4. Develop and implement at the NF specific tools for controlling the quality of measurements to develop, update and implement central processing of observation data

5. Monitor and support the quality control of the instruments, measurements and data

6. Monitor and support the uncertainty estimates of the measurements and data

7. Support based on physical access to ensure network-wide calibration and site evaluations when required

8. Facilitate new technological developments, tests, and to promote new development within the ACTRIS community

CCRES NF STANDARDS

The objective to provide continuous long-term vertical profiles of cloud fraction and water and ice cloud properties requires the synergistic use of several remote sensing instruments. To qualify as an ACTRIS compatible cloud-profiling station, the instrument setup must be capable of continuously providing vertical profiles of clouds at the nominal Cloudnet resolution of 30 seconds and 60 metres.
